“Therefore an overseer must be . . . not quarrelsome”
1 Timothy 3:3
Let’s look at the positive side of this leadership virtue.
A leader is to be uncontentious, peaceable.
That is the opposite of quarrelsome.
This is a leader who abstains from the fight.
It doesn’t mean that a true leader does not stand for anything.
It means that he or she will not fight over every little thing.
A contentious leader causes division. A peaceable leader seeks and labors for unity.
A peaceable leader brings together divergent points of view. A quarrelsome leader creates divergent points of view.
A peaceable leader is peaceable because they live for something more than themselves.
A peaceable leader is a peaceable because they have tasted peace, know peace, and they have experienced personal peace.
How would those around you characterize you?
Are you a peaceable leader?
